Cannabis para Síndrome de Lennox-Gastaut (Epilepsia)

Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a severe form of epilepsy that typically presents itself during infancy or early childhood. LGS is commonly associated with many different types of seizure, but atonic, tonic and atypical absence seizures are the most common. LGS is difficult to treat, because current protocols do not work very well. Essentially, LGS is resistant to many kinds of antiseizure medication (often benzodiazepine-based sedatives).

However, medical cannabis, and cannabidiol (CBD) in particular, has been shown to reduce seizures in both children and adults with LGS. This means that there is now at least some form of treatment for rare and difficult-to-treat forms of epilepsy, and what’s more is that this form of medication is much more well-tolerated (and effective) than what’s currently available. You must use high-quality CBD in order to get the best out of the medication – hemp-derived CBD available on the market may have little effect or possibly even increase the frequency of seizures in some.
